Crocheted Minnie Mouse Christmas Stocking
I am so excited about this post! I have a couple of kids who are huge Minnie Mouse fans and I created the additions to the pattern for them. You can find the basic stocking pattern from Red Heart here. I used half-double crochet for the body of the stocking instead of double crochet that is written in the pattern.
Here are my additions to this pattern.
Colors
Red for the main stocking, black for toe, heel, and ears. White for cuff and skirt trim.
CUFF
With H hook, and black yarn ch 47. Work 4 rows of sc in black. Switch to white yarn and crochet 14 rows of single crochet. Edge only the lower part of the cuff according to pattern. Sew cuff seam. Attach to main part of stocking with black yarn, starting at seam using sc with the black part on top. Do not fasten off. Go onto the ears.
Ears
With black yarn still attached, slip st in first 2 stitches. EAR 1: Ch 3. Skip 2 sc and Hdc 7 times in next sc, ch1 sk 2 sc and slst in next sc. Turn, 2 hdc in each hdc and top of ch3 st [16hdc made]. Ch 1, turn. 1Sc in each hdc. You have completed your first ear. EAR 2: Slst in next 5 stitches. Repeat directions for ear 1. Fasten off and weave in end.
Bow
With red and H hook, ch 47.
Rnd1: Slst in first ch made, to make a circle, making sure chain is not twisted. Ch1, sc in each st around. slst in first sc.
Rnd 2-9: Ch 1, Sc in each st around, slst in first sc of row.
Rnd 10: Ch 1, Sc in each st around, slst in first sc of row. Fasten off leaving and 18 inch tail for wrapping around the center of the bow.
Wrap yarn around several times and tie to other loose end, leaving a tail to sew
on bow. Sew on buttons, 3 on each side, then sew bow to stocking.
Skirt
With red and H hook, ch 47.
Row 1&2: Sc 1 in each st across, ch 1 and turn.
Row 3 &4: 1hdc in 1st st, 2hdc in next st, ch1 turn.
Row 5&6: 1 hdc in each st across.
Sew skirt seam.
Skirt edging (similar to cuff edging): With white yarn and H hook, insert yarn at seam, ch 1, sc in 1st sc, *sk next sc, (dc, [ch1, dc] twice) all in next sc, sk next sc, sc in next sc: repeat from * around, join with a slst in first sc. Fasten off.
Sew buttons to skirt then sew skirt to stocking.
